Effective November 1, 2024, I retired from the practice of medicine, and I am no longer seeing patients. As a longstanding General Surgeon, Breast Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist in the metro Atlanta area for over 30 years, I have had the honor of knowing a great many doctors, patients, family members and friends and have really appreciated your willingness to entrust me with delivering excellent and compassionate care.

About

Dr. Quiñones is considered a top surgeon in Atlanta. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at Yale University, graduating with the highest honors, summa cum Claude. Dr. Quiñones received his MD from Harvard Medical School.

He completed his surgery training at the Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital and while there was selected for a clinical surgical oncology fellowship with the American Cancer Society. As part of this, he investigated the molecular biology of cancer as a Cancer Research Fellow at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute sorting out a portion of the tyrosine kinase signalling pathways for PDGF in K-ras mutated cells. For this research, Dr. Quiñones was published in nationally recognized journals.

Minimally invasive ultrasound-guided needle biopsy uses small incisions to insert needle and take samples. This procedure can be done in the office.

Advanced cancer removal (debulking) with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC)

All tumor is removed from the abdominal cavity and a highly specialized heated chemotherapy is administered during the surgery. Dr. Quiñones was the first surgeon in the Southeast to perform this procedure and has been performing this for over two decades.
